ISBM is committed to improving the quality and standards in the Microbiology profession

Abstract

ISBM was founded in the midst of one of the largest infectious disease pandemics in modern history to unite Microbiology related professionals across the world who are affiliated with Bangladesh. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has brought immense suffering to the people of Bangladesh like almost every other country in the world.

Microbiologists are among the front-liners in Bangladesh, who are directly or indirectly involved in the management of the pandemic. While the pandemic has clearly shown the necessity of microbiologists in activities like testing, surveillance, and research, it has also identified gaps in understanding, training, and collaboration among the professionals.

ISBM aims to consolidate the intellectual abilities and professional expertise among Bangladeshi Microbiologists scattered around the world through sharing of knowledge and expertise. ISBM also focuses on ensuring quality and standards in various Microbiology related professions and providing career-related support to its fellow members.

In line with its core values, in the past one-year, ISBM has demonstrated its commitment to the profession of Microbiology by organizing several scientific webinars on contemporary issues, as well as career development seminars. These events were well participated in and have generated a lot of interest and enthusiasm among the community members.

With such encouragement and support from the peers and with dedication and commitment from the leadership, ISBM is destined to make a real difference in the lives of Bangladesh-affiliated Microbiologists in near future.
