ISMB is pleased to announce two grants titled 'the Huqs-ISBM Research Grant 2025' in the area of Microbiology and Biomedical Science for Bangladeshi early-career scientists.


Dear Fellow Microbiologists,
International Society of Bangladesh-Affiliated Microbiologists (ISMB) is pleased to announce two pilot research grants (The Huqs-ISBM Research Grant) in the area of Microbiology and Biomedical Science for Bangladeshi early career scientists who are affiliated with any university or research institution within Bangladesh. An award of Tk 1 Lac (for one year) will be awarded to an investigator to start a pilot project or to complete an existing/ongoing project.
Eligibility
·         A Bangladeshi early career scientist [Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Research Scientist (under 35 years or within 5 years of their Ph.D.)] working in Bangladesh.  
·         Graduate students  (MS/MPH/M.Phil/Ph.D.)  and Postdoctoral fellows must have an identified mentor in the application who works in Bangladesh.
·         Must be a paid active member of ISBM at the time of acceptance of award.
For Consideration, Please Provide the following information in one document (PDF):
1.       Name, Current Position and Affiliation
2.       Short CV (Maximum five pages) (e.g., NIH-style Biosketch that includes a personal statement, Positions, Scientific appointments, Honors, and Contributions to science)   
3.       Research proposal (maximum five pages excluding references): Arial/Times New Roman, minimum 11 fonts, single space. The proposal must include the Aims, Significance, Innovation, Methodologies/Approach (Statistical Analyses if needed), Expected Results, Potential Pitfalls, and Alternative Strategies. Preliminary results are not essential but are encouraged.
4.       Budget Justification for Tk 1 Lac (one year): Awardees with exceptional results will be eligible to apply for second-year funding for "Competitive Renewal with new applications."
5.       A support letter from the department chair, or laboratory head, or an administrative official is required.

·         Midterm report after six months and a final report (scientific progress and financial status) after project completion.
·         Acknowledge the funding in relevant presentations and publications.
·         Must sign an agreement to the terms and conditions at the time of award.
